AirPlay and Airplay 2: Features and Updates
Airplay is the feature of iOS which allow you to stream audio and videos from Apple Device to other devices on home network. Airplay was able to stream from your Apple Devices to Apple TV generation 2. Airplay 2 expands feature with more device capabilities.
In 2017, Apple announced AirPlya 2 which enable to stream multimdea to multiple devices simultaneously. Moreover Apple expand this feature beyond Apple TV. Samsung, LG and Sony smart TVs are compatible with AirPlay 2.
Initially AirPlay require both devices to be on same wifi network. Bus since iOS 8 updates, it does not require devices to be on same wifi network for AirPlay.
Unlike traditional bluetooth streming, Airplay uses wifi technology for streaming between devices.
